Still time to catch Norm Lewis Christmas show
Part of ticket price helps Main Street Texarkana
Broadway performer and actor Norm Lewis premiered his holiday spectacular, “Norm Lewis: Christmas Time is Here,” on Dec. 17, streaming on the internet, complete with celebrity cameos over Zoom. The local connection was that for those who bought a ticket, part of the proceeds went to support Main Street Texarkana.
“We are so grateful for this arrangement,” Executive Director Ina McDowell said.
“What enabled this to happen was Clay Mills, a graduate of Texas High. He now works for a promotion company that gets the word out about various shows, including ‘Norm Lewis: Christmas Time is Here.’ Because of that connection, we get a portion of the ticket sales, both those bought live and those online.”
Those who missed the live debut of Norm Lewis’ production will have a chance to see it up to midnight on Christmas Eve.
“I’ve seen the show already and it was excellent,” McDowell said. “Norm Lewis has a voice that may sound familiar to many. They may recognize that, if not the name. He has been in several Broadway shows, including the first African-American to play the Phantom in a Broadway production of ‘ Phantom of the Opera.’ He also was the first such actor to play Javert in a Broadway production of ‘Les Miserables.’
He recently was in the cast of the
TV series ‘ The Scandal.’”
Tickets are $25 apiece and can be found online by going to mainstreettexarkana.org and then following the link on the page to make a purchase. Those who bring in a proof of purchase to Hopkins Ice House will get 10% off of carry-out orders.
