TISD Board to hold public hearing on academic performance reports
The Board of Trustees at Texarkana Independent School District will hold a regular meeting Tuesday morning, where an open session will begin with a public hearing regarding Texas Academic Performance Reports.
The TISD board will start the meeting off by going into a closed session before reconvening to open session, where it will hold the public hearing TAP reports.
TAP reports pull together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown separated by student groups, including ethnicity and socioeconomic status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs and student demographics.
Following these reports, new Superintendent Doug Brubaker will give special reports and new information to the board in what will be his first board meeting as superintendent.
After regular business, including the approval of meeting minutes, personnel items, monthly investment reports, proposals and Partners in Education donations, the board will consider an expedited waiver for staff development from the Texas Education Agency.
The board will also consider the approval of delegating to the superintendent for waivers, as well as TASB policy update 116.
The following action items will be discussed:
■ Consideration/Approval of Monthly Financial Report
■ Consideration/Approval of Expenditures
■ Consideration/Approval of Order Calling for Trustee Election
■ Consideration/Approval of Joint Election Agreement
■ Consideration/Approval of Adoption of Annual Tuition Rate for Ineligible Students
■ Consideration/Approval of HB3 Early Childhood and CCMR Board Goals
After the action items are addressed, the meeting will be adjourned.
The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. Due to health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19, members of the public may access the meeting by calling 903-7986883.
