Active COVID-19 cases up in Bowie, Miller counties

The number of active coronaviru­s cases in Bowie County, Texas, increased by 24 from Monday to Thursday, reaching a total of 511, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Four Bowie County residents’ deaths were reported in that time, bringing the county’s total to 185. The cumulative total of infections in the county increased from 4,555 to 4,585. There have been 5,903 recoveries in Bowie County.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas from Monday to Thursday, Red River County’s total case count rose from 394 to 396, Morris County’s from 563 to 565, Cass County’s from 1,123 to 1,130 and Titus County’s from 2,656 to 2,667, according to TDSHS.

In Southwest Arkansas, Miller County’s active case count also increased, from 19 to 25, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. The county’s death toll held at 19 while total cases rose from 2,570 to 2,580. There have been 2,536 recoveries in the county.

From Monday to Thursday, Lafayette County’s case count held at 371, Nevada County’s increased from 636 to 638, Pike County’s from 749 to 750, Little River County’s from 863 to 865, Howard County’s from 1,015 to 1,019, Hempstead County’s from 1,431 to 1,434 and Sevier County’s from 1,753 to 1,759, according to ADH.

In Northwest Louisiana from Monday to Thursday, Caddo Parish’s case count increased from 24,751 to 24,795 and Bossier Parish’s from 13,034 to 13,061, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 254,943 confirmed cases and 5,273 deaths on Thursday, Louisiana reported 432,527 cases and 9,686 deaths, and Texas reported 2,309,124 cases and 43,878 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday reported 28,580,198 cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 517,224.
