Andrea (Andi) Sue Townsend, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 18, 2021 surrounded by family and friends.

She was born February 17, 1940 in Alamosa, Colorado.

Much of her childhood was spent growing up on the family ranch in Colorado. There she developed a love for animals, nature, riding horses and learned the value of hard work. A lot of her childhood was spent taking care of her younger siblings with love and genuine interest in their well being.

She played the French horn was a Girl Scout, a talented artist, an instrument rated pilot and served in the Civil Air Patrol. She was a loving mother, grandmothe­r, great grandmothe­r and fun-loving friend to many special people in her life. She was a devout Christian and active member of St. James Episcopal Church where she lovingly served on the Altar Guild.

In October of 2020, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Her battle with cancer inspired many with her bravery, strength, positivity and always showing a deep concern for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bette and Harmon Minor, her twin sister, Sandra Ann Wentz, and her beloved grandson, Dillon Brett Matthews.

She is survived by her children: Mike Matthews (Linda), Mark Matthews, James Townsend (Stacey), and Gina Foster (Chris); Grandchild­ren Meaghan Woodson (Dave), Brittni Cepeda (Bruno), Aleis Richardson (Robby), Taylor Matthews (Elysa), Jack Foster, and Reese Foster; Great grandchild­ren: Julia, Izaiah, Aria, Brooklyn, Mackenzie, and Lilah. She is also survived by her siblings: Marilyn Minor, Judy Stooks (Doug), Carol Lick (Dave), and Jack Minor (Stamie Lee).

Services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, March 27, 2021, at St James Episcopal Church, with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. James Episcopal Church in Texarkana, Texas.
