Central Mall hatches plan for four Easter-themed stations

- By Junius Stone

TEXARKANA, Texas — Central Mall finds itself festooned with the colors of the Easter holiday, of the bunny and dyed eggs persuasion, as four stations have been set up to provide photographic opportunities.

“Stephanie (Walraven, Central Mall staff) is the primary creative driver behind this year’s choice of Easter decorations,” said Teresa Hackleman, office support. “Usually, we have a bunny out greeting the kids. But due to current circumstances, we decided to do something a bit different.”

Walraven took inventory of the decorations that Central Mall staff had in storage, came up with some ideas and items of her own, and thus, the four photography stations were hatched.

“As we researched this, we saw that other malls were going with this approach as well,” said Hackleman. “But most of them just go with one station. We have four for our visitors to choose from.”

In addition, one of the stations features an activity they’ve done during other holidays, but this is the first time the mall staff has set it up for Easter.

“In front of Zoofari’s, the station there offers a display table with Easter and spring-themed coloring pages and activities,” she said. “This has been very popular with families. According to Stephanie, the interesting thing is watching families engage with this feature. They get really involved in the activities, and no one pulls out a phone.”

(Central Mall will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 4. The Easter photo stations will be on display until April 3.)
