North Lamar topples L-E

TEXARKANA, Texas — LibertyEyl­au dug itself into a hole it couldn’t get out of Tuesday.

The Lady Leopards (1-8, 1-3) fell to the North Lamar Lady Panthers (21-2-1, 4-0) Tuesday night at H.E. Markham Park in their District 15-4A varsity game in five innings, 14-0.

Jaycie Hall opened the scoring in the top of the first inning for North Lamar, driving in Macy Richardson from first base.

Hall also started in the circle for the Panthers. Hall pitched five innings, gave up one hit and struck out 11 batters.

Hannah Kent, Richardson, Noel Rainey, McKenzie Dickson and Hall scored for the Panthers in the second inning, giving North Lamar a 6-0 edge over the Leopards.

Dickson went 3 for 3 for North Lamar at the dish, with two doubles and 3 RBI.

Kent, Claire Stewart and Kate Rainey scored runs in the third inning for North Lamar on L-E wild pitches, adding to the Panther advantage, 9-0.

Stewart went 3 for 4 at the plate for the Panthers with a double and three runs scored.

On the following batter, Dickson drove in two North Lamar base runners, giving the Panthers an 11-0 lead over L-E.

North Lamar scattered three more runs across before the Leopards were able to retire the side in the third inning.

Richardson drove in Stewart in the top of the fifth, giving the Panthers a 14-0 advantage over the Leopards.

Richardson went 1 for 3 with a RBI and three runs scored.

Ja’Kai Ray broke the Leopards’ hitless streak with a double over the North Lamar center fielder’s head in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Leopards will be back in action on Thursday, traveling to Gilmer.
