TISD to host its second virtual teacher job fair
TEXARKANA, Texas — The Texarkana Independent School District will hold a virtual teacher job fair for the second year in a row on Saturday.
The first one was held last year when schools closed due to COVID. Like last year, representatives from all TISD elementary and secondary schools will conduct interviews in a virtual format.
Director of Human Resources Amy Nix said there are advantages and disadvantages with this virtual platform.
“Advantages include ease of planning with no on-site set up required and flexibility for applicants, with no travel required and ability to interview from anywhere with internet access,” she said. “The primary disadvantage to a virtual fair is the lack of a personal connection with the applicants; we like to have them come on-site to see our facilities and meet administrators in person. We feel this in-person connection allows us to get to know the applicants better also.”
While the platform may be unique, what the district is looking for in the teaching candidates has not changed over the years.
“We are looking for teachers who are passionate about education and want to be a part of an environment of high expectations,” Nix said. “We want teachers who will work to provide for the needs of our stu
dents, however diverse those needs may be.
TISD is a place where high expectations are set and met, and we go home each day knowing that we are making a difference.”
Individuals who are certified or have begun the alternative teacher certification process can apply. TISD is also accepting out-of-state certification with no additional testing required.
Interested applicants must submit an online TISD employment application for current or future certified openings, before registering online for an interview with a campus administrator during the job fair.
The deadline for registration is Wednesday.
