JOSEPH MICCO
Joseph Anthony Micco passed away on Thursday, April 15th, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and close friends. He was born on November 16th, 1952 in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Mary Rotelli Micco. Joe graduated from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio in 1975. He enjoyed an illustrious 51-year career in Agriculture and Horticulture with one company which included multiple acquisitions (Grace, GraceSierra, The Scotts Miracle Gro Company and ICL Specialty Fertilizers). Joe was a humble teacher, mentor and outstanding example to others in his professional career. Joe held many leadership positions in production and sales, and received multiple achievement awards throughout his career, up to and including, the Joe Micco Excellence Award which is an annual award presented to high achievers in honor of accomplishments. Joe’s professionalism, integrity and profound work ethic positively impacted all that had the honor of working with him.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Judy Micco, the love of his life and best friend; their two children, Mike Hamilton of Hope and Houston, Matt and wife Becky Hamilton of Searcy; his two grandchildren; Hayden and wife Ashley Hamilton of Texarkana and Hobie Hamilton of Fayetteville and three brothers; Anthony and wife Diane Micco of Cabot, Dr. Alan and wife Joyce Micco of Lemont, and Gary and wife Dina Micco of Edensburg along with many beloved nieces and nephews he mentioned. As a child he was the ringleader of the italian cousins and friends. These are memories they will have forever.
Joe also loved his family with all his heart. He embraced all their various personalities and talents with equal enthusiasm. He loved spending time with his grandchildren at their various activities such as golfing, Sporting Clays and vacations.
Above all he was a devout member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church. As an active member of the church he was Director of Religious Education, teacher of the pre-confirmation class. At church functions he loved to entertain the kids with his amazing magic tricks. Joe’s profound faith in the catholic religion was a living testimony of many God-given characteristics that impacted not only members of his family and church, but most everyone he came in contact with.
A Catholic Rosary Service will be held Sunday April 18th, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM with visitation to follow from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Herndon Fuqua Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services with be held Monday, April 19th, 2021 at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of Herndon Fuqua Funeral Home.
