Men’s casual wear remains strong, Foster says, including jumpsuits and athletic wear. Solaris is a big brand right now with the matching tops and bottoms.
Anything branded Polo, from sweatshirts and hoodies to the iconic collared shirt, are also popular gift items.
Leather jackets are always a big deal at Dillard’s but this year an aged, cognac color is the hottest selling leather jacket instead of the classic black or brown.
For the holiday season, Dillard’s also has a big selection of family games and novelty items, Foster said.
Items include cornhole games, golf games and novelty toilet fishing, which some customers find helpful with potty training the youngsters. The toilet fishing game includes a plastic bowl and magnetic fishing poles.
There are also elf and Schitt’s Creek versions of Monopoly.
And, for the wordsmith, there is a jumbo Scrabble board that takes up a full table.
Foster said some customers are especially eager to support local businesses amid the COVID pandemic.
Customers want to come to the store and physically hold the items in their hands and Dillard’s is working hard to make sure they have as much product as possible.
“Our local people are trusting that Dillard’s will have what they need to make Christmas successful. It’s our community and our jobs at hand and supporting each other is going to be important to Texarkana,” Foster said.
