Gifts for her include jewelry and skin care items at local retailers

Jewelry and skin and selfcare products are among the most spopular gifts for that special lady on your holiday shopping list, according to local retailers.

In fine jewelry, a vast array of options abound.

“Probably our hottest item is sterling and 14 karat gold bangle bracelets. They have absolutely taken over the business, particularly those by Alwand Vahan,” said Mike Murrah, buyer for and manager of Gray’s Jewelers. “He has a niche on styling, but followed it up with price, which is so important.”

Diamonds are always the local jewelry shop’s staple.

“I looked at a couple of custom pieces that Danny (Gray) made and they are so special. We are limited to how many we can do of these because they are custom designed pieces. It is fun to take someone’s stones and put them in something they would enjoy. It is rewarding personally. I get excited over every job,” Murrah said.

In other trends, yellow gold is on an upward climb, he said. White gold has been popular for about the past six or seven years, but yellow gold is making a comeback.

And, it seems the time has come for the resurgence of another jewelry item, Murrah said.

“You know that forever they said the kids are going to use iWatches and their telephones for their time, but I am beginning to see more interest in watches again, even with the younger generation,” he said.

Business is good at Gray’s Jewelers and Murrah attributes that to people having some money set back that they perhaps did not spend with the slowdown in activity and travel in the early days of the pandemic.

“Customers are in a upbeat mood when they come in and when they leave. Everyone’s attitude is really good,” Murrah said. “I think everyone is using more jewelry this year to feel better about themselves and where they are right now.”

At Cooper Fine Jewelers, paperclip necklaces are popular sellers, said Manager Tiffany Savage.

Bridal engagement rings have been hot for Christmas and Cooper Fine Jewelers has hundreds of choices in various shapes, including the currently hot choice of an oval center.

The Laffon Jewelry line at Cooper Fine Jewelers offers affordable elegance, Savage said.

Time In a Bottle Day Spa is selling lots of shea butter hand creams as well as emu oil hand and foot scrubs.

The FarmHouse Fresh line is particularly popular.

“I also have a whole line of Green Roads CBD products and gummies for relaxation and sleep aids,” said Robin Cope Garrett, manager of the spa and Labels Boutique, which is next door.

They also offer essential oil candles and lots of jewelry. Some of the turquoise jewelry is even hand made.

At the boutique, necklaces, earrings and cuff bracelets are strong sellers with mixed metal jewelry.

Also, anything green is huge for fall as well as widelegged denim, she said.

Garrett believes many people are realizing the importance of shopping local.
