REBA ADAMS GATES

Reba Adams Gates, age 82, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, December 31, 2021 in a local hospital. She was born on October 27, 1939 in Sikes, Louisiana, to Crosby, Sr. and Neoma Adams. She was retired from Vivian Elementary School. As a member of First Baptist Church Atlanta, one of her greatest joys was singing with the First Praise Choir. She enjoyed camping, fishing and especially enjoyed spending time at the “Green Camp”. She also loved traveling and being surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Johnnie Gates; her parents; and her sister, Maurice Brister.

Reba is survived by her children, Melinda Clark and husband Eddie of Kingwood, Texas, Tanya Pounds of Kingwood, Texas, Jerry Gates and wife Karen Harmier of Dallas, Texas, Terry Gates and wife Cathy of Benton, Louisiana, Sondra Ainsworth and husband Randy of Atlanta, Texas; nine grandchildren, Lee Gates and wife Courtney, Lindsey Walker and husband Nathan, Joshua Gates and wife Paige, Jessica Gates, Kristen Clark, Katie Hinderliter and husband Brandon, Rebecca Pounds, Blake Ainsworth and wife Krystle, Bre Meisinger and husband D.J.; eleven great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, January 3, 2022, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service, at First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Texas, with Bro. Wes Mills officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Hanner Funeral Service.

Interment will be 3:00 pm, Monday, January 3, 2022 at Hurricane Grove Cemetery in Sikes, Louisiana.
