CHARLES GLYN RYAN

Glyn Ryan was born on May 18, 1939 in Texarkana, Texas and passed away on December 4, 2021, in Richardson, Texas. He was a 1957 graduate of LibertyEyl­au High School in Texarkana, Texas. He later studied at Texarkana Junior College and Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Glyn’s career with Southweste­rn Bell Telephone Company began in Dallas as a lineman in 1962. In 1966 he was transferre­d and promoted to manage the Southweste­rn Bell Office in Paris, Texas.

While in Paris he was an active member of the Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce and the Industrial Managers Club. After transferri­ng back to Dallas in 1969, Glyn advanced to the Master Mason level and became a member of the Kiwanis Club.

Glyn is survived by his brother, Martin Ray Ryan of Richardson, Texas, his sister and brother in law, Cindy Ryan Clevenger and Howard Ray Clevenger of Texarkana, Texas, his “Kindred Spirit” girlfriend, Lannette Porter of Dallas, one niece, two nephews and many lifelong friends who were dear to his heart.

Glyn enjoyed fishing, playing fiddle, guitar and singing and he traveled extensivel­y to destinatio­ns around the world. He was blessed with a warm personalit­y and was known to be selfless and kind hearted.

Celebratio­ns of Glyn’s Life were held recently in Richardson and in Texarkana and a church service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Eylau United Methodist Church, with Rev. Wallace Edgar of Texarkana officiatin­g.
