On September 24, 1941, Azell Jean Compton, of New Boston, Texas, was born to the parentage of the late Burman Wade Sr. and the late Ophelia Burns Wade. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her brothers, Walter Wade, Alton Wade Sr. and Charles Wade Sr., her sister Shirley Wade Pierce, and her husband James W. Compton Jr.

She is survived by five brothers and four sisters: Will A. Wade, Berman (Dora) Wade Jr., Herman Wade, Norman Wade, and William Beasley, Gloria Brooks, Lida Faye Jones, Eddie Mae (Lawrence) Sadler, Asa (Terry)Scroggins.

She was a 1961 graduate of Central High School, New Boston, TX. She loved her classmates and looked forward to their school reunions.

Jean lived a life of faith. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Ross E. Daughtery. The greatest gift that she modeled for her children was how to walk by faith.

She is considered the best mom ever by her three children: Bonita (David Sr.) Perry, Nolanville, TX, Kristi (Lynn) Stickel, Nolanville, TX, and Tory D. Shepard, Nolanville, TX.

She was blessed with seven grandchild­ren: David Perry Jr., Killeen, TX, Ky Perry, The Colony, TX, Shineka (Tyrone II) Whitaker, Atlanta, GA, Savannah Carr, Harker Heights, TX, Rocky Carr Jr., Nolanville, TX, Ian Compton and Reginald Compton of Dallas, TX.

She also treasured her two great grand-daughters, Te’Yana Bonita Perry, Killeen, TX and Halle Jean Housewrigh­t, Harker Heights, TX and great-grandson, Tyrone Whitaker III, Atlanta. GA.

Visitation for Mrs. Compton will be 5 -7 pm Friday January 7 at Haynes Mortuary. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday, January 8 at the New Zion Baptist Church – New Boston, Texas.
