Pleasant Grove school Board to meet Thursday evening
TEXARKANA, Texas — The Pleasant Grove Independent School District will convene for a regular meeting on Thursday evening where members will consider the approval of an audit report and a professional development waiver from the Texas Education Agency
Wilf and Henderson P.C., the district’s outside audit firm, conducted the annual financial review. The report has been put together and will be presented by Kelly Birdwell with Wilf and Henderson, P.C.
The professional development waiver request is for the 2022-2023 school year.
The waiver, if approved, allows 2,100 professional development minutes to count toward the state-required minimum of 75,600 minutes of operation. The 2,100 minutes will be used over five days that will provide professional development for staff during the school year after the first day of instruction and before the last day of classes.
Board approval is required before requesting the waiver from TEA.
The board will also look to approve the amount of designated funds for the district’s fund balance.
The recommended fund balance designations are as follows: Committed Fund Balance:
■ Construction, $1,198,808
■ Retirement of Loans of Notes Payable, $207,000
■ Capital Expenditures for Equipment, $600,000 Assigned Fund Balance:
■ Construction - $1,000,000
The board will consider delegating to Superintendent Chad Pirtle the administrative functions of transmitting the PGISD District of Innovation Renewal Plan to the Texas Education Agency, as well.
(The meeting will be held Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Margaret Fisher Davis Elementary School Cafeteria, 2800 Galleria Oaks.)
