Joyce Dennington seeks position as Miller County Tax Assessor
TEXARKANA, Ark. — Miller County resident Joyce Dennington has announced her candidacy for Miller County Tax Assessor.
Dennington said she has completed a two-year assessing program and achieved her Senior Appraiser designation through the State of Arkansas’ Assessment Coordination Department.
“My main responsibility was taking care of more then 1,300 business and personal accounts as well as assessing personal accounts,” she said. “This allowed me to see the everyday operation of the assessor’s office and how important it is to have strong leadership and educational qualifications, as well as business and administrative experience.”
Dennington said that Miller County residents deserve to have an elected official who is experienced in both property assessment and appraisal, to ensure fair and equitable values for all county residents’ properties.
“I also plan to continue upgrading our file system, computerizing documents and cross training the staff, to ensure the office runs as efficiently as possible.
And I want to give you easier access to all your information.”
As for her prior work experience, Dennington said she was the owner of Bodine’s All-American Diner in Texarkana.
“Before Bodine’s I was the office administrator of Cathy Kennedy’s State Farm Insurance for 17 years,” she said. “I have obtained a wealth of experience that I believe will be particularly useful as your assessor for Miller County.”
Dennington said she is married to Jeff Dennington and earned a bachelors degree from Texas A&M University-Texarkana.
“I’m also a life long resident of Miller County and our greatest blessings are our two sons, Sid (and his wife Jennifer) and Casey (and his wife Tiffani). We also have five grand children and I’m excited about getting an opportunity to serve the citizens of Miller County.”
The current Tax Assessor has announced she is not seeking reelection.
(Election Day is May 24.)
