MILLER COUNTY FILINGS
Only four Miller County races are contested so far as the Arkansas filing period nears its March 1 deadline.
All candidates are running on the Republican ticket.
Topping the list is the threeman faceoff for sheriff. As of Friday, David Wayne Easley, Chief Deputy Mark Lewis and Stephen Ward had filed to be the county’s chief law enforcement officer.
In the race for Tax Assessor, Miller County voter registrar Tonya Bohn faces competition from Joyce Dennington.
The remaining two contested races are for seats on the Quorum Court
In District 7, Jeffrey Page and James Syler have tossed their hats into the ring for justice of the peace.
The district is bounded by U.S. highway 67 and 82 along the eastern edge of the county.
District 9 incumbent JP John Haltom faces a challenger in Howdy Smith.
The district is bisected by Interstate 549 and U.S. Highway 71 and includes portions of Line Ferry and Blackman Ferry roads.
