Razorbacks’ Jones, Nash selected to All-Star team

- RICK THOMAS

TEXARKANA, Ark. — Two Arkansas High seniors, Jeremiah Jones and Travion Nash, have been selected to play in the Red River Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) All-Star Football game this summer in Texarkana.

The Razorback duo will play in the All-Star Football game on June 3 at Tiger Stadium in Grim Park. The game rotates every year between Tiger Stadium and Arkansas High’s Razorback Stadium.

The football game is a part of a four-sport all-star event sponsored by the Red River FCA. The All-Star Basketball game will be played June 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Liberty-Eylau’s Rader Dome.

The All-Star Softball and Baseball games will be played on June 15 at Texas High’s softball complex and baseball field on the Texas High School campus.

Both Arkansas High players are worthy of the honor of playing in an all-star game, said Trey Outlaw, Razorback athletic director and head football coach. “I’m really happy for them and they deserve to be picked, no doubt.”

Jones played defensive end for Arkansas High’s football team this past season.

“He was playing receiver until about a week before the season started and we moved him to defensive end,” Outlaw said. “He ended up leading our team and all teams in Texarkana,

Arkansas side and Texas side, with eight sacks.”

Outlaw said Jones, a 6-foot-3, 180-pounder, started every game at defensive end.

Nash is a 6-foot-5, 180-pound offensive lineman.

“He played right guard for us and he was the only senior on the offensive line to start every game,” Outlaw pointed out. “He played in the line with one junior and three sophomores, so he also had to be a senior leader for our team.”
