Sexual assault trial scheduled for former coach

TEXARKANA, Texas — The trial of a local Amateur Athletic Union basketball coach is scheduled to begin Feb. 13 in Bowie County.

Tevin Raymond Wilson, 31, is charged with sexual assault in alleged misconduct with a 16-yearold girl.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Feb. 12, according to court records. Wilson is represented by attorney Tabitha Branch.

In January, Assistant District Attorney Lauren Richards filed a motion of the state’s intention to use evidence of extraneous offenses at trial. The offenses include Wilson’s allegedly violating terms and conditions of his bond by failing to comply with his house arrest requirement.

Wilson was allowed to only go to work or church but was tracked via GPS at stores and restaurants where children could be, according to the motion.

Another alleged offense was an act of assault/family violence against a romantic partner, according to the motion.

Wilson was arrested Oct. 2, 2020, by Texarkana Texas Police Department and released the same day on a $100,000 bond. According to a probable cause affidavit, Wilson texted the girl in the afternoon of a day in late September and told her he was going to pick her up so she could “train.”

The girl was interviewed at the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center on Sept. 22. She reported that after picking her up, Wilson took her to his apartment in Texarkana, Texas, and invited her to come inside while he got something from his residence.

Wilson allegedly asked the girl to come to his bedroom to wait for him. The girl reported that she laid across a bed on her stomach and was looking at her cellphone when Wilson began to touch her.

If found guilty of sexual assault, Wilson faces two to 20 years in prison.
