“One Day”

Based on the worldwide bestseller by David Nicholls, the new limited series “One Day” premieres Thursday, Feb. 8, on Netflix. On the night of their graduation on July 15, 1988, Emma Morley (Ambika Mod, “This Is Going to Hurt”) and Dexter Mayhew (Leo Woodall, “The White Lotus”) speak to each other for the very first time. The next day, they go their separate ways, until the fateful day they reunite one year later. And the next year, and the year after that, and every year that follows. In a love story spanning decades, each new episode finds Dexter and Emma one year older on the same date, as they grow and change together and as individual­s. Created for television by Nicole Taylor (“Wild Rose,” 2018), “One Day” also stars Essie Davis (“Faraway Downs”), Tim Mcinnerny (“Notting Hill,” 1999), Amber Grappy (“Smothered”), Jonny Weldon (“House of the Dragon”), Eleanor Tomlinson (“Poldark”), Joely Richardson (“Nip/ Tuck”) and Toby Stephens (“Treat Yourself,” 2018). Skin”), Kate Hewitt (“Life”), John Hardwick (“Brassic”) and Luke Snellin (“Suspects”), the series is executive produced by Nicholls, Taylor, Roanna Benn (“Doctor Foster: A Woman Scorned”) and Jude Liknaitzky (“My Mad Fat Diary”).

“Lover, Stalker, Killer” (2024)

Digging into the perilous realm of online dating, Netflix’s newest true crime documentar­y, “Lover, Stalker, Killer,” premieres Friday, Feb. 9. Recently single and eager to kick-start his love life once more, Dave did what so many modern singles do: turn to online dating for another chance at romance. Meeting Liz and Cari, both single mothers with great personalit­ies who seemed to have great potential, this hard-working, devoted dad thought things were looking up for him. But, what should have been a casual foray into the dating realm soon turned into a twisted love triangle that put Dave and everyone he cares about at risk in what turned into a four-year nightmare. Using vivid reenactmen­ts of events, this documentar­y looks at the harrowing murder case, with first-person interviews from those involved, including the law enforcemen­t officers who cracked the case. “Lover, Stalker, Killer” comes from Curious Films and director Sam Hobkinson (“Fear City: New York vs The Mafia”).

“Rael: The Alien Prophet”

Featuring interviews with his followers, critics and Raël himself, the four-part limited docuseries, “Raël: The Alien Prophet,” will be available to stream, Wednesday, February 7, on Netflix. Exploring the odd and intriguing world of “Raëlism,” a Ufo-inspired religious movement founded by Claude Vorilhon (Raël) that has spread across France over the past 50 years, and is now known as a controvers­ial cult. CEO of France’s factual label, KM, who took part in the series’ creation, claims the documentar­y will “explore the sources of belief and contradict­ions behind this movement and ways it has evolved over the last five decades,” while “[giving] a sneak peek into an untapped world,” promising for a fascinatin­g watch from start to finish.

“A Killer Paradox”

Choi Woo-shik (“Parasite,” 2019) stars as vigilante serial killer Lee Tang in the thrilling new K-drama, “A Killer Paradox,” premiering its first, eight-episode season Friday, February 9, on Netflix. Based on the webtoon of the same name, by creators Ggomabi and Nomabi, the series joins Tang as he unexpected­ly falls into a blood-thirsty career, determined to find and kill other killers. As Tang descends into a murderous rampage, he is trailed by Det. Jang Nan-gam (Son Suk-ku, “The Roundup,” 2022) — the man tasked to find the vigilante and bring him to justice.with its original source material seeing countless accolades, including the New Artist Award at the Korea Contents Award, “A Killer Paradox” explores the complex themes of sin and morality through a fast-paced and intriguing story.
