“Road House” (2024)

Jake Gyllenhaal (“The Covenant,” 2023) stars in this remake of the late ‘80s classic “Road House,” premiering Thursday, March 21, on Prime Video. Dalton (Gyllenhaal), an EX-UFC fighter, is trying to escape his dark past and barely scraping by on what’s left of his reputation. Given a new chance when he’s spotted by Frankie (Jessica Williams, “Shrinking”), the owner of a roadhouse in the Florida Keys, Dalton takes up a job as a bouncer at the bar, trying to help Frankie stop a violent gang boss (Billy Magnussen, “No Time to Die,” 2021) from ruining her establishm­ent. But, the stakes are raised even higher when Knox (MMA fighter and boxer Conor Mcgregor), a ruthless gun for hire, shows up on the scene. Directed by Doug Liman (“Edge of Tomorrow,” 2014), featuring a screenplay by Anthony Bagarozzi (“The Nice Guys,” 2016) and new screenwrit­er Charles Mondry, “Road House” is based on the original screenplay by David Lee Henry (“Out for Justice,” 1991) and Hilary Henkin (“Wag the Dog,” 1997). Daniela Melchior (“Fast X,” 2023), Joaquim De Almeida (“Ganglands”) and Lukas Gage (“Fargo”) also star.

Instead, he focuses on cultivatin­g deep connection­s and poignant conversati­on. “Friends in Low Places”

Put on your boots and slip on down to the oasis with husband-and-wife duo Garth Brooks (“The Thunder Rolls”) and Trisha Yearwood (“She’s In Love With the Boy”) in the Prime Video docuseries “Friends in Low Places,” available now on the streamer.the series follows the couple as they enlist the help of friends, their tour team and culinary profession­als to build a four-story bar in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, called the Friends Bar and Honky Tonk. From constructi­on to the grand opening, the series documents all the trials and tribulatio­ns of the couple’s passion project and personal thank you to Music City USA. Joining Brooks and Yearwood in the cast are brothers Benjamin and Max Goldberg, who oversee all of the bar’s hospitalit­y needs, and the team of Jenny Deathridge Bratt and Camille Tambunting, the ladies in charge of building the bar. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Casey Patterson Entertainm­ent, “Friends in Low Places” sees Brooks, Jeremy Bronson (“The Mindy Project”), Carol Donovan (“Harry Potter 20th Anniversar­y: Return to Hogwarts”), Todd Holland (“The Real O’neals”) and Casey Patterson (“A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote”) all serve as executive producers.
