Joanne Cantiberos Upton, known by many as Joanne, Mom, Gramma, Jojo, went to meet her Lord & Savior peacefully on April 13, 2024 as she was at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Joanne grew up in Hawaii & spent her youngest years playing sports as a self proclaimed “jockette” on the island & living the island life with her siblings.

She moved to Southern California as a determined teen where she graduated what she called the School of Hard Knocks.

She later moved to Texas where she lived the remainder of her years & helped run the family auto business~ Upton Motor Company where she made many lifelong friendships.

Joanne was also a member of FBC Moore’s Lane Texarkana where she devoted much of her time to her Sunday school class ~ The Golden Circle & their volunteerism to Samaritan’s Purse~ a service ship dedicated to serving third world countries & witnessing the Gospel to underprivileged children. Joanne spent many hours & years serving her time to this organization. She also served the food ministry at FBC & helped to serve many meals in the name of Jesus.

Joanne was loved by many & was evermore a beacon of sunshine & positivity. She was radiant until the end & witnessed to the end. She was a wonderful Christian, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend & volunteer. She had a laugh that encouraged others to laugh along with her & she always gave God all the Glory.

In her most recent years, Joanne enjoyed sharing her positivity & love in the form of also sharing her Hawaiian culture by handing out homegrown plumeria flowers to anyone she met at local establishments. She always made sure she shared the Love of Jesus in this gesture.

She was loved by many & will be missed by many but her Ohana finds comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in her heavenly home. Her loved ones find comfort in knowing that ALOHA means both goodbye & hello & we will see her again someday.
