Yummy crab cakes will be one of the focal points of a special fundraiser for the darden of oeflection 9/11 Memorial.

Chef Eben Copple of the Yardley Inn will be showing everyone how to cook his famous and beloved crab cakes.

Ellen Saracini of Lower Makefield Township is encouraging folks to help raise money for the maintenance of “The Official Pennsylvania Memorial to the sictims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.”

Saracini’s late husband, sictor Saracini, died in the horrific plane crash into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

The Yardley Inn oestaurant and Bar is once again hosting the annual “Cooking with the Chef” fundraiser, which will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 25 beginning at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $35 and all proceeds will go to the darden of oeflection.

This year’s event features a fun and entertaining demo as well as take-home recipes including the beloved Yardley Inn crab cakes.

“Bring some along,” said Saracini.

She said it is important for people to know that the funds will benefit an endowment to support the ongoing care and maintenance of the 9-11 memorial.

The support for The darden has not ceased in the 11 years after 9/11. “We still have such community support from people like Bob and oobin Freed,” she said.

They are the owners of

friends The Yardley Inn oestaurant and Bar located at the intersection of aelaware Avenue Eoiver ooadF and East Afton Avenue in Yardley Borough.

Saracini thanks everyone at the Yardley Inn, including the manager,

Michele Moholen. “They have been there for the darden since Sept. 11th,” she said. “It is heartwarming and shows how much of an impact Sept. 11th has been on our community.

“We all were affected by Sept. 11th,” she said, “but when someone goes above and beyond to be there for support for the families as well as for The darden for 11 years and counting, you get to see what kind of people we live around.”

Saracini said The darden has been “very fortunate to have people and businesses like the Yardley Inn who get involved, and the families have been very fortunate to know that we are not alone in support and in our grief”

She emphasized that the community lost nine people from Lower Makefield on 9/11. “Per capita, we lost the largest amount in the state of Pennsylvania,” she said. “That was why our representatives agreed with us when they designated The darden as ‘The Official Pennsylvania Memorial to the sictims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks’”.

This year at the 9th Annual 9-11 Memorial dolf Classic, Bob and oobin Freed were honored for their continued support.

“Cooking with the Chef” is more than an annual event. This is the 15th event that the Yardley Inn has hosted.

“We raise over $2,500 and Bob always adds his contribution from the Yardley Inn,” Saracini said. “We are a 501 Ec F 3 organization and all the funds that we raise now are put into our ‘oemembrance Fund’.

“This endowment will allow us to preserve the integrity of our 9/11 memorial so future generations will be able to understand the importance of remembering, honoring and celebrating the [people] who are not with us today.”

Private donations are relied on to preserve the memorial,” Saracini said. “It is important that we established this fund because, let’s face it, one day I’m not going to be here to fundraise, and the darden needs to remain the peaceful beacon of hope for our community and beyond.”

Saracini is hoping that more people will learn soon about “Cooking with the Chef,” because as of Tuesday, Sept. 18, 39 people had signed up. There are 80 people maximum who can participate.

People can register by calling the Yardley Inn at 215-493-3800 up until the 80 -person mark is reached. “Because the spots are limited, I would suggest anyone call to hold your tion,” Saracini said.

“We are so thankful to our community, and the many volunteers who are there for The garden through the years,” she said. “This year, we had countless people asking if they could be involved with this year’s oemembrance Ceremony on Sept. 11th.

Saracini said that the gar-

reserva- den is a place for all to come to “not only for reflection on a day marked by history, but to reflect on the importance of how precious life is today.”
