Upper Makefield-Newtown Soccer is now Patriot FC
WASHINdTON CoOSSINd — Hundreds gathered for the official kickoff event for the Patriot FC (formerly 8pper jakefield-Newtown Soccer Club (rjNSC)), which was held Thursday, Sept. 6 at New Hope’s Brownsburg Park.
Headlining the event was The Philadelphia rnion jarketing Tour, which scheduled a special player appearance by doalkeeper Chase Harrison. To the delight of young fans, Harrison posed for photos, and signed autographs on items ranging from soccer shirts to cleats.
jeeting Harrison was “the best part of the night,” according to Claire Sichel, a defender on the Patriot FC’s dirls r9 team, who also enjoyed “having some fun after practice with all my soccer friends.”
In addition to Harrison’s guest appearance, the club scheduled a friendly game between Patriot FC r12 girls and r10 boys teams that represented the club in the State Cup semi- and quarterfinal rounds, respectively.
The Patriot FC staff hosted a special training demonstration, and attendees had an opportunity to enjoy a picnic with other members.
“We are proud to announce our transition to Patriot FC, which allows us expand our club and related training opportunities, yet maintain the uniqueness of historic Washington Crossing and our club heritage,” said davin Flanigan, director of coaching and player development for Patriot FC.
“This festival allowed us to do this, and also ring in the fall soccer season.”
Patriot FC, formerly rpper jakefield-Newtown Soccer Club (rjNSC), has nearly 500 intramural players between the ages of four to 18, as well as more than 300 travel players representing 23 teams.
Some of the club’s teams are nationally-ranked and play in top regional and national competitions. Patriot FC also has players articipating in select regional and national training pools.
