Athlete of the Week Shawn Pepper, Pennsbury Football
So far, Shawn Pepper has lived up to his potential to be a Division I college recruit in the coming months. The 6-3, 215-pound senior running back and linebacker has been a go-to offensive threat thanks to his rushing, receiving and kick returning abilities, and all three were on display at Downingtown East Sep. 14. There, he rushed for over 60 yards, caught for nearly 90 and ran back kickoffs for 88 and 90 yards, both of which went for calcon touchdowns.
His efforts kept Pennsbury in the game, but weren’t enough to overcome East in a 42-28 setback. While the calcons are 1-2, Pepper has been strong in both losses, as he gained 92 yards and a score on the ground in a season-opening loss to Easton. He also scored once and ran for 98 yards in a 34-23 win over crankford.
