But that’s not all. Also included in the price of the ticket is tea at the Washington Crossing Inn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with music provided by local celebrity Bob Egan.

The houses on the tour are “very different and unique,” said tour organizers. One is an estate with the oldest section dating back to circa 1760 and the newest part circa 1840. The original part of the home was built by General John Baumont. His nephew built the newer front part of the house and the barn. The barn was originally used to house mules for the ferry service on the Delaware River. The property may have also been a stop on the Underground

derground Railroad. Another interesting fact is that the barn was used to keep the animals for the “Barnum & Bailey Circus.” Often the animals were walked into Newtown where they boarded the train to circus venues. Today part of the barn is the home of goats Hazel and Adele and 17 chickens and modern living quarters for the owners.

Another new home on the tour is in the style of an English Manor married to the British Campaign style with a touch of Asian. When the homeowners built the house they wanted the kitchen to be the “heart” of the home, with a family of four children, so they gave the builder the plans for the kitchen and told him to build the rest of the house around it.
