North battling inexperience

blips along the way – a 2-0 loss to unbeaten Neshaminy, 1-0 to Tennent – but North’s lineup is rife with underclassmen, says Indians head coach Larry Sullivan.

“It’s been really difficult but all the younger girls have stepped up,” said senior captain Lexi Steele. “Larry’s been really good with putting everybody out on the field in positions that they’re not used to and he’s been working on training them to get used to those positions.”

“I think we’re just all playing really well together.”

While the Rock split with the Falcons (the Indians won, 3-1, Sept. 14) and William Tennent this year, they took two from Abington, two from Truman and got past sister school CR South by a 3-1 score on Sept. 25.

In the Oct. 10 duel with Pennsbury, the sides went scoreless in the first half before Falcon forward rche Onuoha put a ball in off a feed from the back from junior bmily Wunder in the 45th minute.

Fifteen minutes later, Steele answered, scoring off a through ball by senior Nicole Moonan.

“I think we outplayed them the whole entire time,” said Steele. “Towards the end, we got kind of worried. It just got in our heads and we decided to just not play the game we’re used to playing.”

Just one of those days, said Sullivan. Moonan got through the Pennsbury defense five times, he said, but could not get a ball into the back of the net.
