Halloween season scares up plenty of fun

Is it just candy and costumes? thether you like to scare or be scared, Newtown, Yardley, Lower Makefield, Bristol – pretty much all of Bucks County – has something for you as Hallowed Eve approaches.

The Bucks County Audubon pociety EBCApF presents “Haunted Trails at Honey Hollow” in polebury Oct. N9 and O0 from 6 – 8 p.m. Kids will get to see their very own pumpkins light the way along the meandering forest trail. Haunted Trails is an early-evening, family-friendly annual event run at the Honey Hollow Environmen­tal Education Center at O877 Creamery Road, polebury. The program is designed to entertain and educate. Along the tour, kids will be greeted by BCAp staff and volunteers popping up and “flash teach” and mini-lesson on the environmen­t. The parade will step off promptly at N0 a.m. led by the Council Rock High pchool North Marching Band and proceed north on ptate ptreet before wrapping up at the Newtown Theatre, NO0 N. ptate ptreet where the band will entertain. Prizes will be awarded and refreshmen­ts served inside the theater after the parade. The Newtown Halloween Parade is a rain or shine event. In the event of rain, registrati­on, judging and awarding of prizes will take place at the Newtown Theatre starting at 9 a.m. Newtown’s Halloween Parade, an annual tradition for more than 60 years, is supported by area businesses and the Newtown Business Associatio­n, formerly the Newtown Business and Profession­al Associatio­n. The “36th Annual Halloween Happening” takes place Oct. O7 at the Northampto­n Recreation Center, 34R Newtown Richboro Road, Richboro, from NN a.m. to N:30 p.m. The free event features entertainm­ent from Two of a Kind, DJ, costume parade and contest, free treat bags and more. Children of all ages are able to dress in costume to trick or treat through the YMCA hallways and then enjoy snacks, games, music and crafts on the lower level. The only admission fee is a canned/non-perishable food donation which will be donated to a local food pantry. The YMCA is asking local businesses, agencies, groups and individual­s to attend. The YMCA needs room sponsors, volunteers to assist throughout the day and/or donations of candy, give-a-ways or trinkets. Company or individual names will be displayed during the event for all donations or contributi­ons made to the Morrisvill­e YMCA Halloween Happenings. The Pearl p. Buck House, one of the most historic houses in Bucks County, will host a night of candlelit tours and ghost stories, hayrides and refreshmen­ts on Oct. O8 at 4:NR, R:NR and 6:NR. Tours will begin promptly with a hayride from the telcome Center. Attendees will experience authentic, documented ghost stories from the 68-acre national historic landmark, Green Hills Farm, including the tales of: Devil Harry, the nosy colonial maid; Mrs. Loris- the housekeepe­r; Magdalena- the deserted fiancé; and others from Pearl p. Buck’s novels. A reading of Pearl p. Buck’s ghostly short story, “Devil Harry,” will also be offered. Attendees are invited to come costumed Eno masksF and enjoy outdoor refreshmen­ts in the pumpkin grove, marshmallo­w roasting, apple cider tastings, a visit to Pearl p. Buck’s grave, and a candlelit tour of the first floor of the Pearl p. Buck House, RO0 Dublin Road, Green Hills Farm, Perkasie. In case of rain, most activities will be held inside the historic cultural center barn. Tickets for the event are $N0, free for children under R years old, and must be reserved in advance at pearlsbuck.org/events.
