First National Bank earns Patriot Award

-

NEWTOWN – ESGR, a Department of Defense agency, has presented The First National Bank with its Patriot Award in recognition of the bank’s support of employees in the National Guard and the National Reserves.

The First was nominated for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award by former Pennsylvania National Guard Specialist, Nicole Tshudy, who served as an intelligence analyst with the 556th Military Intelligence Company. Tshudy performed her military duties in the National Guard while she continued working as a Corporate Officer, Assistant Operations & Security Director at the First.

“We have always recognized that the essential defense work Nicole provided for our nation required a certain flexibility in her work schedule here at the bank,” explained Dan Shaffer, President of The First National Bank. “It has always been an honor for us to help her honor the commitment she made to the National Guard.”

“I nominated First National Bank for many reasons. They view my service as an asset to the team and not an inconvenience; even when I was on leave for eight months of training,” said Tshudy. “But I’m also incredibly proud that The First recently unveiled a special new Military checking account that offers all of the incentives of the bank’s Premium checking account, with no minimum balance requirements or monthly maintenance fees for active duty personnel. The First always puts the community, and those who protect it, first.”

ESGR was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment.
