Schools to rock for hur­ri­cane re­lief

NORTeAMPTON TOWNSeIP – The School of Rock New­town, along with the Prince­ton, Doylestown, cort Washington and Eas­ton schools, wLOO SuW Rn D FRnFHUW WR EHnH­fiW eu­r­ri­cane Sandy vic­tims. The con­cert will be held on Sun­day, Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. at the North and Southamp­ton Re­form Church, 1380 Bris­tol Road, Churchville. Tick­ets will be $10 each and may be pur­chased in ad­vance at the par­tic­i­pat­ing schools. Tick­ets will also be avail­able at the door, as­sum­ing no sell-out in ad­vance. All ticket pro­ceeds will be do­nated to Amer­i­can Red Cross Dis­as­ter Re­lief.

“A lot of fam­i­lies and friends were af­fected by this storm. I grew up go­ing to the beaches of New Jersey and I think this is a great op­por­tu­nity to give some­thing back,” said Rob dro­den, mu­sic di­rec­tor at the School of Rock New­town. “I’m very ex­cited to have th­ese schools get to­gether for this im­por­tant cause.”

The con­cert will fea­ture the par­tic­i­pat­ing schools’ eouse Bands per­form­ing a wide va­ri­ety of songs show­cas­ing the his­tory of Rock and Roll.

School of Rock New­town opened its doors this past June, mov­ing to the sil­lage at New- town Shop­ping Cen­ter from its former Lower Southamp­ton lo­ca­tion af­ter nearly eight years of teach­ing mu­sic in a unique and in­ter­ac­tive way. Through an in­no­va­tive cur­ricu­lum and com­mu­nity at­mos­phere, stu­dents not only learn mu­sic, but de­velop prob­lem-solv­ing and team­work skills that cross over into other ar­eas of their lives. At the New­town school they are also learn­ing to give back to the com­mu­nity, re­cently par­tic­i­pat­ing in and per­form­ing for the 2012 Bucks-Mont Light The Night Walk to sup­port the East­ern PA Chap­ter of The Leukemia & Lym­phoma So­ci­ety.

School of Rock op­er­ates 100 schools in 25 states, Mex­ico and Brazil, ex­pand­ing to meet the de­mands of par­ents who want en­rich­ing af­ter-school pro­grams for their kids who want to play mu­sic.
