‘Nuclear Proliferation’ talk at Pennswood
The rnited Nations Association – rSA, Bucks County Chapter presents a guest lecture by Dr. Andrew h. Semmel on “Nuclear Proliferation – Where Do We Stand” on Wednesday, Dec. 5 beginning at 7 p.m. at Pennswood sillage, 1382 Newtown-Langhorne Road, Middletown Township.
Semmel is the head of AhS Consulting where he focuses on issues relating to nuclear proliferation, the nuclear non-proliferation regime, and peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
ee consults on behalf of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the r.S. Departments of State and Energy in Washington, and written and spoken extensively on nuclear-related, foreign policy, and national security issues.
Semmel joined the Department of State in 2003 as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Nuclear Nonproliferation in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation (ISN). eis primary responsibilities included the development and execution of policies and initiatives to stem the spread of nuclear weapons, cooperative threat reduction, and export controls. ee represented the Department in interagency meetings, bilateral and multilateral international for a conferences and negotiations on nuclear nonproliferation issues.

ee served on the personal staff of r.S. Sen. Richard d. Lugar from 1987 to 2001, where he was the senior legislative assistant for foreign policy. Prior to that, he served as a professional staff member of the Senate Committee on coreign Relations, 1985-1987.
