Herr commits to Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt head men’s golf coach Scott Limbaugh recently announced the signing of Zach Herr, Michael Decker and Matthias Schwab to National Letters of Intent, and all three will be eligible to compete for the Commodores in the fall of 2013.

“We are very excited with the high caliber of studentath­letes we were able to attract with this signing class,” said Limbaugh. “I believe these young men sensed the momentum our program has gained, the tremendous support we receive from our administra­tion and the fact that our program is on the move.

“Our signees are really excited about the opportunit­y to attend such a great academic institutio­n and represent Vanderbilt University on the golf course. We recruited these young men because we feel they can be successful here.”

Herr, a Council Rock North senior from New Hope, is ranked 19th in the country according to the Golfweek/Titleist Rankings and 35th per Junior Golf Scoreboard, and seventh in both rankings for the class of 2013. His junior resume is very impressive — he advanced to the 2010 U.S. Open Sectional nualifying, and in 2011, to the round of 16 in the 2011 U.S. Junior Amateur.

Herr has won two AJGA Opens and had two runneruS fiQLVKHV, DQG KROGV 14 A-GA TRS 10 fiQLVKHV. HH is a three-time runner-up at the Pennsylvan­ia Golf Associatio­n Junior Boys’ Championsh­ip, a four-time PIAA Medalist and AllState Selection, and a twotime District 1 Champion (2010 C 2011).

“We feel that wach Herr is an outstandin­g player,” said Limbaugh. “He’s also a great young man with great leadership qualities. wach is a very accomplish­ed player that is very hungry to work hard and be part of this program.”

Decker is from Pebble Beach, California and Schwab comes to Vanderbilt from Rohmoos, Austria.
