Woman injured when Sedan, dump truck collide on Rt. 332
LOWER MAhEFIELD - A 71-yHDr-ROG LRwHr 0DNHfiHOG Township woman was injured on Dec. 13 when her car was broadsided by a dump truck at Route 332 (Newtown Bypass) and Interstate 95.
Police said the Mack triaxle truck was headed west bound on Route 332 at 9W20 a.m. when it struck a Grand Marquis sedan that was exiting sound bound I-95 and was crossing the two west bound lanes of Route 332 at a signalized intersection.
The impact of the crash pushed the sedan several hundred feet west on Route 332 and into the east bound lanes of the highway, according to LRwHr 0DNHfiHOG 3ROLFH CKLHI .Hn CROuzzL.
Witnesses at the scene told police that it appeared the truck had the green light when the accident occurred.
The driver of the sedan, hathryn Stiebritz, 71, of the 100 block of Taylorsville Road, was removed from the car by medics from the YardOHy-0DNHfiHOG (PHrJHnFy 8nLW (Y0(8). 7KHy wHrH DssLsWHG by police.
Stiebritz was transported to SW 0Dry 0HGLFDO CHnWHr Ey WKH Y0(8. 7KH HxWHnW RI KHr injuries was not immediately known.
“The squad worked diligently to stabilize the woman and to make sure she incurred no further injury as a result of the accident by taking all the proper precautions and getting her out of WKH YHKLFOH sDIHOy,” sDLG CROuzzL.
“She took a real bad hit. You never know what type of injury she sustained even though there Ls nRWKLnJ YLsLEOH,” sDLG CROuzzL. “They (the squad) are equipped and prepared to recognize that and their quick response, as with many calls, determines the difference between life and more permanent injury.”
The operator of the dump truck, Mark Berle, 51, of the 100 block of Tansboro Road in Berlin, N.J., was not injured. The truck is owned by MJF materials of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.
