Rattigan, Baldwin to lead board

833(5 0$.(),(/D – DDnLHO oattigan will once again serve as FhDLrPDn RI WhH 8SSHr 0DNHfiHOG Township Board of pupervisor­s after the board appointed him to the position via a 4-N vote at its reorganiza­tion meeting Monday eveningK

This marks the second time that he has served as chairmanK

Conrad “Bud” BaldwinI who will continue serving as vice chairmanI nominated oattiganK Tom CinoI Mary oyanI Baldwin and oattigan voted for oattiganI with iarry Breeden the lone dissenterK

Breeden also cast the lone “nay” vote after oyan nominated Baldwin for vice-chairmanK oyan was unanimousl­y elected as treasurerK

After the meetingI oattigan talked about the top issuesI noting that there is a balanced budgetK

“The number one issue we’re go- ing to be dealing with starting ganuary NRth is our ‘RPT plan’ and the aolington and Taylorsvil­le areasI” oattigan saidK “Those are the ones with the failed septic systemsK”

The township is in the process of updating its Act RPT pewer cacilities mlanI which was last revised in NVTUK

The state requires that municipali­ties have a plan to address present and future sewage disposal needs including private on-lot sewage disposal sysWHPs, SrLvDWH sPDOO-flRZ WrHDWPHnW facilities and township-owned public sewage facilities­K

oattigan said the board will also look for areas of potential improvemen­t in emergency servicesK ee wants to ensure the board is better informedK

The developmen­t of an emergency services master plan is under considerat­ionK oattigan said the board needs to prepare for the futureK

One of the other major issues this year will be healthcare­K ee said the new township managerI pally plookI has been charged by the board to come up with a “game plan” in VM daysK

ee said that will include working with employees “to have their say rather than ramming it down their throatsK”

oattigan noted that two-thirds of the township’s employees are part of collective bargaining­K The township is limited to what it can change in the health care planK
