eer death came as a shock to many who knew her becauseI until she suffered a stroke two weeks agoI Melville remained an energetic force in the Bristol area and had just weeks agoI returned from a visit to family in BudapestK The morning after her returnI she breakfaste­d at the oadcliffe CaféI saying that she couldn’t sleep late because she had so many errands to runK

“f just have to get movingI” she saidK

AndI move she didK On Bristol aayI OctK OMI an ac- quaintance saw her leaving one of the homes on the history tour and remarkedI “f hope that when f’m her ageI f can walk like thatK”
