Teen struck and killed by SEPTA train on New Year’s Day

jIDDibTlWk – A teen walking along pbmTA’s West Trenton train line was struck and killed by an outbound commuter train on kew vear’s Day at about OWPM pKmK

The pbmTA engineer braked and blew his hornI according to Bucks County Coroner goseph CampbellK “At UR miles per hour - it’s going pretty fastI” he saidK

kewman died from multiple injuriesI according to CampbellI who said the death appears accidental­K

“At the last minuteI he knew the train was coming but couldn’t get out of the way at that pointI” said CampbellK

According to jichniewic­zI there have been fatalities along the tracks in the pastK

“The train lines are not a safe place to walkI playI or ride ATss and the tracks should only be crossed at the designated road crossingsI” the lieutenant saidK

pbmTA spokesman Andrew Busch said the teenager was hit by an outbound West Trenton train from Center City with West Trenton as its destinatio­nK

“It’s obviously a tragedy whenever something like this happensI” Busch saidK “lur safety department does a lot of outreach programs to help people be aware of safety along the tracksK”

“We will do anything we can do to raise awareness of the dangers of being in the track areaI” Busch saidK
