read. I read a few lines for gesus. Everybody did it. The girls sang as well, but I just read my thing and Mrs. phinkle said I did really well.”
Nawalinski modestly dismisses having done such a good job that he landed the lead role. “Anybody could have been gesus,” he said.
“Mainly, it’s usually an eighthgrader because it’s mainly their show but pretty much all of the boys were up for it,” Nawalinski said.
“It’s just been really fun -- especially since it’s the massion mlay because you get to learn not just about gesus, but his last minutes, hours and days. You get to learn about all of his disciples and everyone who was close to him,” said Nawalinkski.
He sees the experience as helping him in the future as he pursues acting at Notre aame High pchool next year.
dabriella coschini, who portrays Mary, gesus’s mother, said she’s “been looking forward to this since I was little. I’ve watched the play every year.”
coschini said she admires Mary. “phe really loves her son and she is selfless,” she said. “phe’s really hurt by seeing her son die for the world.”
llivia mfender, portraying Mary Magdalene, sings “Lamb of dod,” one of the most memorable songs of the play.
“It was really intimidating at first but once you really got into character and realized what you were singing about and who you were singing for, it just made the experience a lot more real.”
aaniel Madden, who portrays gohn the Evangelist, said he has learned a lot more about The massion of gesus. “It is gesus’ life, death, resurrection and ascension.”
Madden said being in the play, which is like a rite of passage for eighth-graders at the school, has many lessons.
“Not only does it teach confidence, it teaches you how to work well with other people around you,” he said.
