Patriot FC Black captures Europa Turf Cup
The Patriot FC Black U13 boys soccer team defeated Philadelphia SC Coppa to win the championship division in the third Annual FC Europa Turf Cup held March 2-3 in aowningtown.
The Patriots completed pool play with three wins and no losses with victories over FC Revolution (PA), Ukrainian Nationals Shakhtar (PA) and Toms River Elite Crew (NJ).
“The boys scored 11 goals and gave up only one goal but more importantly, played great soccer,” said head coach aarlington ‘Majik’ Agu. “I’m proud of their effort in beating three highly-ranked teams and the sportsmanship they displayed throughout the two-day tournament.”
In the finals, playing into a strong wind, the Patriots took a 2-0 lead in the first half. The boys dominated the second half for a convincing 4-0 victory against a tough Philadelphia SC Coppa team to take the Championship. The victory helped the Patriot FC Black U13 team to move up to No. 13 in the national “Got Soccer” youth rankings.
