NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP POLICE REPORT

The following informatio­n is provided by the Newtown Township Police Department: DRrG ARREST - An investigat­ion that began in July of 2012 led to the arrest of 69-yearold Salvatore rrside. Police made a series of controlled purchases during an undercover investigat­ion where rrsida was selling prescripti­on pain medication from his New Hope Borough home. He was charged last week with six felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communicat­ion facility, and dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity. He was arraigned by Judge Snow and released on unsecured bail.

Monday, March 18

WARRANT ARREST - Just before 1 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of Linden and German avenues for a report of a traffiF DFFLGHnW. $n LnLWLDO LnYHVWLJDW­LRn UHYHDOHG that one of the drivers involved, Michael D’Arcangelo Jr., 3R, of Winchester Drive in Newtown was wanted on an outstandin­g warrant by the Falls Township Police Department. D’Arcangelo was taken into custody by Newtown Township Police and transporte­d to police headquarte­rs until Falls Township Police responded to accept custody of D’Arcangelo. Newtown Township also learned that D’Arcangelo’s driver’s license is under suspension so related charges are pending for that violation.

Tuesday, March 19

THEFT FROM sEHICLE - At approximat­ely 11 a.m. police were dispatched to the Newtown Athletic Club for a report of a theft IURP D YHKLFOH. TKH UHVSRnGLnJ RIfiFHU VSRNH wLWK WKH YLFWLP wKR VKRwHG WKH RIfiFHU WKDW a window of his car had been smashed after he parked it in the lot around 9W30 a.m. The victim also reported the theft of his briefcase containing his wallet and numerous personal papers. The security cameras for the facility did not show the area where the vehicle was parked.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Around 4WR0 p.m. police responded to Optimal Fitness located on South Eagle Road for a report of criminal PLVFKLHI WR D YHKLFOH. TKH UHVSRnGLnJ RIfiFHU met with the vehicle owner and observed that two tires on the car had been slashed. The victim did not see anyone suspicious or have any idea who caused the damage.

MOTOR sEHICLE CITATIONS - While patrolling on Washington Crossing Road DURunG 1:20 D.P. Dn RIfiFHU REVHUYHG D YHKLFOH with a suspended registrati­on being driven on WKH URDGwDy. TKH RIfiFHU VWRSSHG WKH PRWRULVW and issued two citations to the driver charging him with driving with a suspended registrati­on and operating a vehicle with no insurance. TKH RIfiFHU IROORwHG WKH GULYHU WR KLV KRPH DSSURxLPDW­HOy RnH PLOH IURP WKH WUDIfiF VWRS and advised him not to drive the car until it is insured and the registrati­on has been restored.

SAFETY DETAIL - A Motor Carrier Safety GHWDLO wDV FRnGuFWHG MRLnWOy wLWK RIfiFHUV IURP Newtown Borough, Newtown Township and 8SSHU 0DNHfiHOG 3ROLFH DHSDUWPHnW­V. TKH GHtail was located on the Newtown Bypass in the area of Campus Drive from 6W30 a.m. until 12 S.P. 2IfiFHUV VWRSSHG DnG FKHFNHG 14 WUuFNV, issuing eight citations for various violations and placed three trucks out of service due to the extent of the safety violations.

Thursday, March 21

FRArD - A resident of Millstone Drive came to headquarte­rs around 12 p.m. to report WKDW VKH UHFHLYHG nRWLfiFDWL­Rn IURP D FROOHFWLRn agency regarding an outstandin­g debt amounting to slightly more than $900.

THEFT - Police received a call from a representa­tive of a business located on Penns Trail reporting that black dog silhouette signs were stolen from the property. The signs, valued at approximat­ely $180, were used to scare away the geese.

PARKING CITATION - Around 2W30 p.m. Dn RIfiFHU REVHUYHG D YHKLFOH SDUNHG Rn WKH gravel maintenanc­e path near the entrance JDWH WR WKH 1HwWRwn 6NDWH 3DUN. TKH RIfiFHU spoke with the owner of the car, a 32-year-old man from Andover Road in Fairless Hills. The RIfiFHU LVVuHG D SDUNLnJ WLFNHW WR WKH PDn DnG instructed him on the correct location to park his car while using the skate park.

SOLICTING WITHOrT A PERMIT - At approximat­ely RW40 p.m. police received a complaint about two men attempting to sell siding to residents in the area of Armstrong CLUFOH. TKH UHVSRnGLnJ RIfiFHU ORFDWHG WKH subjects and advised them that since they didn’t have a solicitor’s permit issued by Newtown Township they needed to leave the area. They were further advised that if they returned to Newtown Township trying to sell without a permit they would receive citations charging them with the violation.

Friday, March 22

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Police responded to the Newtown Athletic Club shortly before R p.m. for a report of criminal mischief to a YHKLFOH. TKH UHVSRnGLnJ RIfiFHU VSRNH wLWK WKH YHKLFOH RwnHU wKR VKRwHG WKH RIfiFHU wKHUH the car had been scratched and dented. There were no witnesses to the situation.

SrSPICIOrS sEHICLES - Police were dispatched to the Newtown Grant Recreation Center at approximat­ely 10W10 p.m. for a complaint of two suspicious vehicles parked in the back corner of the parking lot. The respondLnJ RIfiFHU ORFDWHG WKH FDUV DnG VSRNH wLWK WKH operators and advised them that since the rec center was closed they needed to leave the area. They were cooperativ­e and no further police action was required.

Saturday, March 23

TKH RIfiFHU REVHUYHG DV WKH motorist continued to travel onto Swamp Road DnG SHUIRUPHG D WUDIfiF VWRS nHDU 3HnnVwRRG DULYH. TKH GULYHU wDV LGHnWLfiHG DV 0LFKDHO R. Hahn, 2R, of Spicebush Road in Levittown, he was subsequent­ly taken into custody and transporte­d to St. Mary Medical Center to have blood drawn and submitted for alcoholic content. Hahn was given a courtesy transport back to his home. Charges of driving under the LnfluHnFH RI DOFRKRO DUH SHnGLnJ WKH UHVuOWV RI the blood work.

GAS STATION ACCIDENT - Police were dispatched to the Luk Oil Service Station on Sycamore Street just before 8W30 a.m. for a report that a customer had backed his vehicle into the fuel pumps. The responding RIfiFHU FRnWDFWHG WKH GULYHU wKR VDLG KH RnOy had minor damage to the front bumper of his car. However, the employee of the station FRnfiUPHG WKDW WKUHH nRzzOH KDnGOHV KDG EHHn NnRFNHG RII WKH SuPSV. TKHUH wDV nR KDzDUGous fuel spill. cocaine, loitering and prowling at night, public drunkennes­s and disorderly conduct were fiOHG DJDLnVW KLP. ASSArLT - 1000 block of Bridgetown 3LNH. $W 2:40 D.P. RIfiFHUV UHVSRnGHG WR D home in the 1000 block of Bridgetown Pike for a 9-1-1 call where the 9-1-1 operator could KHDU fiJKWLnJ Ln WKH EDFNJURunG. 2n DUULYDO RIfiFHUV wHUH PHW Ln WKH GULYHwDy Ey D PDn and woman who were both screaming. The PDn, ODWHU LGHnWLfiHG DV 6DPuHO BuOORFN, 63, RI LDnJKRUnH, UHIuVHG WR FRPSOy wLWK RIfiFHU’V LnVWUuFWLR­nV DnG UHVLVWHG RIfiFHUV DWWHPSWV WR WDNH KLP Ln WR FuVWRGy. $n RIfiFHU VuVWDLnHG injuries to a knee and hand while attempting to take the man into custody. He was treated at St. Mary Medical Center. Police said the woman sustained injuries to a knee and head, ERWK LnflLFWHG Ey WKH PDn. 6KH GLG nRW UHTuLUH transport to a hospital. Bullock was transporte­d to police headquarte­rs, was processed and charged with simple assault, terroristi­c threats, harassment and resisting arrest. He was arraigned and remanded to the Bucks County Correction­al Facility in lieu of $20,000 (10 percentF bail.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - In front of a building at 19 Bennett Place. The complainan­t reported that sometime between 6 p.m. on March 1R and 8 a.m. on March 16 unknown actor(sF smashed the passenger side window and slashed both passenger side tires on his vehicle, which was parked in the lot in front of the building. Damage was estimated at $600.

Sunday, March 17

THEFT - Bluebird Road. The victim reported that sometime during the past week three pieces of jewelry were taken from her home, possibly by a contractor who was working inside.

Tuesday, March 19

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - 200 block of Stratford Drive. The victim reported that sometime overnight the rear passenger side window on his vehicle that was parked in the driveway had been smashed. It was not known what caused the damage or its value.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - 100 block of Harriet Road. The complainan­t reported that sometime after 10 p.m. on March 18 the passenger side window on his vehicle was smashed by an unknown object. The vehicle had been parked in the street in front of the home. No value was given for the damage.
