You know those old computers, keyboards, printers, fax machines and electronic toys that have been gathering dust in your home? Here’s a chance to free up some space, get rid of some junk and help the environmen­t.

Northampto­n Township, Leck Waste Services and Ecovanta are teaming up to offer a free Household Electronic Waste (E-Waste) Recycling Collection Event to the residents of Northampto­n Township on Saturday, April 20 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (rain or shine) at Leck Waste Services, 237 Jacksonvil­le Road, Ivyland.

The following items will be accepted at the collection site: computers, laptops and monitors; computer mice and keyboards; computer peripheral­s; CD players; sCR/DsD players; cell phones/phones; home RIficH SrLnWHrV/IDx PDchLnHV; Tss, radios, stereos and MP3 players; electronic toys and games; photo and video cameras; and common electrical appliances (washers, dryers, stoves, air conditione­rs, refrigerat­ors, microwave ovens, space heaters, vacuums, power hand tools, etc.).

As a general safety precaution, Tina Leck of Leck Waste Services said informatio­n on data storage devices such as computers, smart phones, copiers, etc., should be completely removed prior to donation or recycling. However, Leck noted, that neither Leck or ECOvanta plans to refurbish or resell any of the collected items. All hard drives and data storage media will be shredded at Ecovanta’s electronic waste processing facility, she said.
