It’s ‘Curtains’ for Neshaminy Valley Music Theater and its spring show

It’s keshaminy salley jusic Theater EksjTFI and it’s right here in Bucks County’s back yard. pince NV5SI a group of people whose passion is performing have been putting on one musical a year. The comparison between ksjT and its Broadway brethren pretty much begins and ends with that passion for performing. Their next performanc­e will be “CurtainsI” a musicalLco­medyLwhodu­nit set in 1959 BoVWon. TKH firVW VKoZ is set for April NO.

According to ksjT utility person goan walot Eshe has too many responsibi­lities to listFI her group boasts about 5M peopleI most of who do a little bit of everything.

“bverybody’s involved in ‘CurtainsI’” walot saidI “either on the stage crewI as performers or set designers. We build all the sets … everything is on us.”

While everything they do is “on” themI it’s for some- one else. The performanc­es take place at keshaminy High pchool’s hloos Auditorium­I an appropriat­e venue considerin­g where ksjT directs their proceeds each year. The group awards scholarshi­p grants to keshaminy High pchool seniors who plan on continuing their education in WKH finH or SHrIorPLnJ DrWV.

“It’s fun and it’s a good causeI” walot said. “The reason we exist is to help out these students.” According to walotI the group has awarded more than ANOSIMMM in scholarshi­p grants over the years.

“Curtains” is designed to make the audience laugh ZKLlH WryLnJ Wo fiJurH ouW who has killed the leading lady and other “not-so-likeable characters” of a new musical. As every show ksjT puts on is a musicalI there is plenty of singingI too. Choosing “Curtains”I like choosing any show

ksjT doesI involves more than just blindly spinning a wheel and putting on whatever comes up.

“The way we choose a show isI a sub-set of xksjT’s board of directorsz narrows a list down to about seven or eightI” walot VDLG. “:H SrHVHnt tKH OLVt tR tKH ERDrG, DnG D finDO vRtH LV taken. ‘Curtains’ is a good fit IRr uV. ,t’V D rHDOOy Iunny show with great music.”

Their shows are always family-friendlyI said walotI who described the play as “a bright and bouncy tribute tR PuVLFDO tKHDtrH, VSRRfing many of the great musicals of the past while still declaring a passionate love for the theatre.”

IndeedI the show has an impressive legacyI garnering eight Tony Award nomination­sI including a win for David Hyde Pierce Eof “Frasier” fameF as best leading DFtRr. -RKn .DnGHr DnG )rHG bbbI the creative team who penned “Cabaret” and “Chicago”I wrote the music and lyrics.
