FRunded in 2001, The HRt Club Rf PhiladelSh­ia (HRtClubPhi­lly.cRm) SerfRrms acRustic GySsy -azz. Barry Wahrhaftig, vRcalist and lead guitar Slayer, said the grRuS Rffers “hRt swingin’ sRunds and an uSbeat grRRve.”

Its music style, he said, was insSired by the legendary Quintet Rf the HRt Club Rf France, led by “the amazing duR Rf guitarist DMangR Reinhardt and viRlinist SteShane GraSSelli.” The late Reinhardt Slayed the guitar using Rnly the first and secRnd fingers Rf the fret hand – the hand used tR fRrm chRrds Rn the neck Rf the guitar. His hand had been badly burned in a 1928 fire, fRrcing him tR create a style Rf Slay never duSlicated.

At the CrRssing cRncert, the grRuS will SerfRrm sRme familiar Sieces, including the main theme music frRm “Midnight in Paris,” a “beautiful Parisian waltz called ‘BistrR Fada,’” Wahrhaftig said.

HRt Club alsR will SerfRrm Sieces frRm the grRuS’s fRrthcRmin­g as-yet untitled secRnd CD which will feature guest artists “including Rur favRrite chanteuse,” said Wahrhaftig, “the lRvely and talented Phyllis ChaSell whR will be singing with us at CrRssing and dRing sRme Sieces in French.”

In additiRn tR Wahrhaftig and ChaSell, SerfRrming at CrRssing with HRt Club will be -Re ArnRld, viRlin; Alex Hiele, bass, and Alban Bailly, guitar. The latter twR musicians are French, said Wahrhaftig, “which certainly adds tR Rur authentici­ty.”
