– It’s tough to dethrone the king.

Falls Legion Post 834, Lower Bucks American Legion League’s best team during the regular season at 15-1-2, continued its winning ways with a big 10-0 playoff win over Northampton Sunday, July 14 at Jay Dunlap Memorial ballfield at the Kopper Kettle.

Recent Truman graduate Scott Jensen was both the ace on the hill and a beast with the bat as the former Tiger went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a pair of doubles including a walkoff two-bagger in the bottom of the eighth that ended both the game and the season for the Bombers, who lost 10-0 on Saturday, July 13 to Yardley Post 317.

“He kind of sneaks up on you doesn’t you,” said Falls head coach Pete Hoffman. “I can’t say enough about these guys, all of them, not just Scotty. It was Scotty’s turn today. Tomorrow it might be Beau (Fleming). The next day it might be Shane (Monahan). Yesterday, we had Justin Jacko.

“These guys work hard; they pick each other up.”

On the hill, Jensen shot down the Bombers with six strikeouts and no walks, limiting Northampton to just four hits in seven in- nings of work. His counterpart, Bombers starter Dom Cocco, made it through just three innings, giving up seven runs on five hits while struggling with his control and walking seven batters.

Northampton relief pitcher Zach Stratton limited Falls to three runs on four hits though he surrendered RBI doubles to both Justin Jacko and Jensen in the eighth when the Dirtbags sent Northampton packing.

Falls advanced to the LBALL championship July 16 back at Kopper Kettle (results not available at press time) by defeating Yardley Post 317 by a 7-1 score. Righthander Beau Fleming, an incoming sophomore at Gwynedd Mercy College, tossed a five-hitter, striking out 10 batters while walking just two. Recent Pennsbury grad Brandon Garrett came on in the ninth and gave up a hit and a walk but he also struck out two batters.

Ahead 4-1 after just two innings, the Dirtbags extended their edge to 7-1 with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Jacko ignited the Post 834 offense with two hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Monahan also stroked a pair of hits, drove in a run and scored twice. Chris Romano pitched in
