Ada Fos­ter

Ada B. Fos­ter, a long­time res­i­dent of Ore­land and re­cently of New­town Square, died Wed­nes­day, Aug. 1, 2012. She was 96.

Born in Philadel­phia, she was the daugh­ter of the late Ed­win and Ada Muh­ley Busch. Ada grad­u­ated from Frank­ford High School, Nor­mal School of Philadel­phia and Tem­ple Univer­sity. She was a teacher at Fox Chase El­e­men­tary School and guid­ance coun­selor at Green­burg El­e­men­tary School. When Ada re­tired, she moved from Fox Chase to Ore­land, where she de­vel­oped neigh­bor­hood friend­ships. She en­joyed trav­el­ling, es­pe­cially Eng­land, where she also es­tab­lished friend­ships. In 2009, Ada moved to Sun­rise of New­town Square.

Ada was ac­tive in the church for over 55 years. She was the or­gan­ist and choir di­rec­tor at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Cas­tor Gar­dens for 45 years. She started sign­ing in the choir as a child and of­ten sang duets with her brother, Ed­win.

She is sur­vived by her brother and his wife, Ed­win and So­phie Busch; her nieces, San­dra Busch and Ju­dith Warner; and Ju­dith’s hus­band, Laird Warner.

Friends were in­vited to join Ada’s fam­ily for grave­side ser­vices Satur­day, Aug. 4, 2012, at 11 a.m. at For­est Hills Ceme­tery, By­berry Road and Philmont Av­enue, Philadel­phia, where she was buried with her son, Mark, who died in 1969 at the young age of 28.
