Ada B. Foster, a longtime resident of Oreland and recently of Newtown Square, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012. She was 96.

Born in Philadelph­ia, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Ada Muhley Busch. Ada graduated from Frankford High School, Normal School of Philadelph­ia and Temple University. She was a teacher at Fox Chase Elementary School and guidance counselor at Greenburg Elementary School. When Ada retired, she moved from Fox Chase to Oreland, where she developed neighborho­od friendship­s. She enjoyed travelling, especially England, where she also establishe­d friendship­s. In 2009, Ada moved to Sunrise of Newtown Square.

Ada was active in the church for over 55 years. She was the organist and choir director at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Castor Gardens for 45 years. She started signing in the choir as a child and often sang duets with her brother, Edwin.

She is survived by her brother and his wife, Edwin and Sophie Busch; her nieces, Sandra Busch and Judith Warner; and Judith’s husband, Laird Warner.

Friends were invited to join Ada’s family for graveside services Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery, Byberry Road and Philmont Avenue, Philadelph­ia, where she was buried with her son, Mark, who died in 1969 at the young age of 28.
