Dorothy Florence Sutton
aorothy Florence (nee Warr) Sutton, 95, passed away after a brief illness on Aug. 26, 2012, in Abington. Born Feb. 2, 1917, in Sunbury, Pa., she was the beloved wife of Wilfred P. Sutton, deceased, and a resident of Gwynedd Estates, Ambler, Pa.
The daughter of the late John R. Warr and aorothy C. Warr of Abington, aorothy graduated from Abington High School and received her Bachelor of Arts from the Pennsylvania State College in 1938. She was employed by Abington Hospital, social services, Sutton Landscaping Company, substitute teacher for rpper aublin School aistrict and was a longtime employee of Ambler Medical Associates. She also served on the board of Sutton Trading Company.
aorothy was very active in community affairs, through her church, St. Alphonsus of Maple Glen, and many organizations including the Colony Club of Ambler (past president), aAR, nuesters, The Historical Society of Fort Washington and AArW. She continued to stay active while residing at Gwynedd Estates for the last 16 years.
In addition to her beloved husband, aorothy was predeceased by her daughter Martha Ann Palme, and her grandson Richard G. Hartzell Jr., as well as two sisters and their spouses, ar. auane G. and C. Eleanor Warr Clarke and Ray and Anne Egbert.
aorothy is survived by a daughter, Margaret G. Hartzell, and her husband, Richard, and by a son, John W., and his wife, hay; son-in law Robert Palme; grandchildren Andrew Hartzell, Christina Gogel, Brian Palme, Anne Jones, Steven Palme, J.W. Sutton, Matthew Sutton and Nathan Sutton; and 13 greatgrandchildren.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 33 Conwell arive, Maple Glen, PA 19002. siewing at the church starts at 9:30.
Interment immediately following the service at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
