Four suspects sought by police for invasion

- By Linda Finarelli

Whitpain police pursuing information on the identity of four men who carried out a home invasion Monday at a West Ambler home were hoping a surveillance camera may have recorded something of use.

Four men wearing ski masks robbed the residents of a home in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue at gunpoint Monday afternoon, getting away with cash and jewelry, according to Whitpain police.

Whitpain police Chief Mark A. Smith said Tuesday night that police were hoping surveillance cameras at the American Legion Post on West Maple Avenue may have picked up images of the men involved in the invasion. Apparently some eyewitnesses saw men running to the corner, he said.

Police received a call of a break-in in progress at 1:18 p.m. Sept. 3 from the Railroad Avenue home in the West Ambler section of Whitpain Township. Four black males had entered the home and held the residents at gunSRLnW DnG SURFHHGHG WR WLH uS fivH SHRSOH inside while they took money and jewelry, police said. The suspects were described as three, darkskinned black males, a short, light-skinned black male and the operator of the Buick was reported to have a beard, police said.

Smith said there were no suspects as of Tuesday night but that police believe someone in the house was from the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia and that one of the men involved in the invasion may have been from West Oak Lane and followed the one inside to the Railroad Avenue home.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Whitpain Police Department at 610-279-9033.
