from the point of the goal on.

“Devon had a great game,” Malcolm said. “We just have to get him going and winning balls in the middle of the field so he can make plays. That’s what we have been trying to do over the past couple of games and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but that’s how this game is.”

The second half was unexciting until the very end. With the Trojans’ defense deciding to drop back, absorb pressure and play on the counter, the frustrated CB East side became visibly more and more frustrated as the sec- ond half went along. Wissahickon came up with a chance on the break every few minutes, beginning to worry its opponent.

All the hard work paid off with less than 12 minutes to go. After a CB East turnover in the midfield, Wissahickon’s Matt Knittel fired a shot from just inside of the half line that troubled the keeper and found the back of the net. The Trojans celebrated and the game was back even.

“He’s struck it well. You have to put pressure on,” Malcolm said. “If you don’t put pressure on net, you won’t score. He put it on goal and the goalkeeper wasn’t able to handle it and it ended up in the back of the net. It was a good goal, just too bad we couldn’t get one in overtime.”

Unfortunately for Wissahickon, Clowe bagged the winner early in the first overtime, serving the Trojans with a heartbreaking loss. Despite the nature of the results, Malcolm was happy with his side’s effort.

“A 2-1 loss in overtime is not a horrendous thing,” Malcolm said. “They are a good team and we played them well. Hopefully this will be something the boys can build on and take into the rest of the season.”
