PW holds off Perkiomen salley

The lights were bright and emotions were high as the 2012 KLgK VFKRRO IRRWEDOO season kicked off Friday night across the area.

A non-league tilt for Perkiomen salley and visiting Plymouth Whitemarsh gave both teams a good idea as to where they are after several weeks of practice in preparatio­n for the season.

Both teams struggled early Rn WR finG D rKyWKP RIIHnsivel­y, but the Colonials’ late drive capped a fourth quarter rally to overcome the sikLngV, 20-16.

The sikings were led by Mark Bonomo’s 99 yards on the ground, while Clay Domine hauled in eight passes IRr 105 yDrGV. QuDrWHrEDF­k Rasaan Stewart connected Rn 13-RI-25 SDVVHV IRr 147 yards, but did have two intercepti­ons – one of which ended a drive deep in PW territory with the game on the line.

“Tonight was just one of those games,” Perk salley coach Scott Reed said after the game. “I told our guys that it was a fourth quarter game. We fought like crazy. They fought like crazy. This was just a good high school football game. I’ve been on both sides of these.”

That ignited the sikings as they answered the call with a score of their own as Martise Ray dove in from a yard out for a touchdown.

Ps came up with a big fourth down defensive stop with the Colonials on the sikLngV’ 10.

From there the sikings wHnW 90 yDrGV WR WrLP WKHLr GHfiFLW wLWK 6WHwDrW WDkLng the ball into the end zone on D 5-yDrG kHHSHr.

“We were running our noKuGGOH DnG WryLng WR finG D rhythm,” Reed admitted. “We were trying to catch them off-guard with some things.”

“It was a hard fought game by both teams,” said the sikings coach. “Hated losing it.”
