Mary Ann Lapidus

Mary Ann Lapidus, age 80, a resident of Abington, Pa., Cherry Hill, N.J., and Brigantine, N.J., died on Oct. 6, 2012.

She was the devoted wife of the late Stanley J. Lapidus for 44 years until his death in 2001.

Mary Ann was born in Philadelph­ia, graduated from Girls High School in 1949 and later attended Temple University. She began her working career as a secretary for a manufactur­ing company and later was employed as a substitute secretary for the Abington School District. She retired from Macy’s in Willow Grove, where she was a sales associate.

Mary Ann was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and grandmothe­r. She volunteere­d with the Elder Med group at Abington Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed knitting, spending time at the New Jersey Shore, going to the casinos and sharing special times with her dear friends. Her sense of humor and optimistic attitude were un- wavering and she will be remembered by family and friends for the happiness she brought to those around her.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robin and Diane Lapidus, and their children, Lennon Pukowsky and Chloe Lapidus; and by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Joel Spencer, and their sons Jake Spencer and Cole Spencer. Her oldest son, Mark Lapidus, died on July 4, 2012.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at Baron Rowland Funeral Home, 1059 Old York Road, Abington, where friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
