Lawrence J. Exner, 95, of Lower Gwynedd, died on Oct. 21, 2012, at the Artman Lutheran Home in Ambler.

He was the beloved husband of Clara (Murray) Exner for 65 years. Lawrence was born in Philadelph­ia, Pa., on April 28, 1917, to the late Francis and Edith (Weidman) Exner.

He was a graduate of North Catholic High School and received his master’s degree in chemistry from Temple University. He served his country proudly with the U.S Army Air Corps during WWII, attaining the rank of captain. He also enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.

Larry worked for Rohm and Haas Co. at its Bridesburg, Bristol, Springhous­e and Sauquoit locations as a chemist for over 40 years.

He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen and Sigma ui Honorary 6FLHQWLfiF 2UJDQLzDWL­RQ. HH enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling the world with his wife.

In addition to his wife, Clara, he is survived by three children, Mary Spalding (Roy) of Raymond, Neb., Clare Exner (Lawrence Crystal) of Mapleton, Maine, Lawrence J. Exner Jr. (Ellen) of South Abington Township, 3D.; DQG fiYH JUDQGFKLOG­UHQ, Maroya Spalding Walters, Sara and Philip Crystal, Abigail and Ryan Exner. He was predecease­d by three siblings, Frances, Edith and Robert Exner.

Relatives and friends were invited to his funeral Mass on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, 33 Conwell Drive, Maple Glen, PA 19002. A viewing was from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment was in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
