Lawrence J. Exner, 95, of Lower Gwynedd, died on Oct. 21, 2012, at the Art­man Lutheran Home in Ambler.

He was the beloved hus­band of Clara (Mur­ray) Exner for 65 years. Lawrence was born in Philadel­phia, Pa., on April 28, 1917, to the late Fran­cis and Edith (Wei­d­man) Exner.

He was a grad­u­ate of North Catholic High School and re­ceived his mas­ter’s de­gree in chem­istry from Tem­ple Univer­sity. He served his coun­try proudly with the U.S Army Air Corps dur­ing WWII, at­tain­ing the rank of cap­tain. He also en­listed in the U.S. Air Force Re­serves, re­tir­ing as a lieu­tenant colonel.

Larry worked for Rohm and Haas Co. at its Brides­burg, Bris­tol, Spring­house and Sauquoit lo­ca­tions as a chemist for over 40 years.

He was a mem­ber of St. Alphon­sus Church in Maple Glen and Sigma ui Hon­orary 6FLHQWL­fiF 2UJDQLzDWLRQ. HH en­joyed gar­den­ing, read­ing and trav­el­ing the world with his wife.

In ad­di­tion to his wife, Clara, he is sur­vived by three chil­dren, Mary Spald­ing (Roy) of Ray­mond, Neb., Clare Exner (Lawrence Crys­tal) of Maple­ton, Maine, Lawrence J. Exner Jr. (Ellen) of South Abing­ton Town­ship, 3D.; DQG fiYH JUDQGFKLOGUHQ, Maroya Spald­ing Walters, Sara and Philip Crys­tal, Abi­gail and Ryan Exner. He was pre­de­ceased by three sib­lings, Frances, Edith and Robert Exner.

Rel­a­tives and friends were in­vited to his funeral Mass on Thurs­day, Oct. 25, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Alphon­sus Church, 33 Con­well Drive, Maple Glen, PA 19002. A view­ing was from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. In­ter­ment was in St. John Neu­mann Ceme­tery, Chal­font.
