SEAHAWKS’ HARVIN NEEDS HIP SURGERY

Seattle: WR Percy Harvin has posted a message on his Twitter account saying he will need surgery on his injured hip.

Harvin was in New York on Tuesday seeking a second opinion for soreness in one of his hips, in the area of his labrum. Harvin tweeted “Sorry to half to report but my injury will require surgery.”

There was no immediate word from the team about when the surgery would take place or how long Harvin might be out. Fellow Seattle receiver Sidney Rice had a hip labrum injury in 2010 and missed 2½ months of the season. Indianapolis: Colts T Brandon McKinney was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, costing the team one big piece of its rebuilt defensive line.

The 345-pound McKinney was lost one day after coach Chuck Pagano said he had swelling in his surgically-repaired left knee. McKinney spent all of last season on injured reserve, too, after injuring the knee during a preseason game.

To replace McKinney, the Colts pulled LB C.O. Prime off waivers. Washington: CB DeAngelo Hall sprained ligaments in his right ankle and could miss the rest of training camp.

Hall was wearing a walking boot during the team’s practices Tuesday. He was hurt Monday when he lost his footing trying to defend a receiver. Tennessee: Guard Chance Warmack passed his conditioning test and the Titans wasted no time getting their first-round draft pick onto the field.

Warmack was the last of players selected in the first round of the NFL draft to agree to his contract.
